Welcome to my page, and thanks for visiting! I'm an artist who enjoys pretty much all artsy things. Drawing, acting, singing, it's all great. I draw stuff from lots of different fandoms, but this is mainly a pony account. I hope you like my work! <3

Oh my goodness thank you so much for the watch! It means so much to me (: I know you've been drawing with copics for a quite a while and your works are absolutely stunning! But I was wondering how you first started off and if you could give me some pointers?

It's no problem! Your art style is really cute, and I love seeing copic art X3

I can absolutely give you pointers! (even though I'm no expert lol)

So I started off with 24 Promarkers in 2013, and I collected around 50 of those before I decided to get Copics.
Most of my promarker pieces looked like this:Princess Portraits by frostykat13 Cupcake Pony by frostykat13 (I know they're so old and ugly I'm sorry XD) because I didn't know how to blend back then.
I always recommend that people start with Promarkers first since they're cheaper, but since you've already got some copics, I guess we'll go straight into that! :D

So what kind of things do you wanna know?
LolliponyBrony Featured By Owner Feb 2, 2016  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I've just been practicing blending with colour pencils. I only have one drawing that
is copic and that was a mix of pencils w copics ;P (I currently only have 5 colours lol)
I guess you could say I have copics, but they aren't enough to really do anything. Although
they are hefty in price, I went with them because of durability and longevity. I should head
to Japan and get a bunch haha

Oh my gosh those are beautiful! Even without blending, I love the simple shading style.
Can't stop saying I  your style xD

So I'm really confused with what kind of paper to use. I have bristol 98lb paper but I'm not
sure what other papers would work well for this. I've come to realize in the past that paper
is quite a big deal when it comes to art. What do you use?

Also, what methods are there to blending? And would you apply dark colours first, then blend
with a lighter tone? I know in pencil shading, colouring and inking there are many shading/blending
methods and I was wondering if this is the same case with markers.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but it should be fun figuring things out on my own too ;P
Hopefully I can expand my set soon (they're so expensive!) and thank you so much for helping me out! ^^

Okay, here we go :3

Thank you! I'd like to try going back to the more simpler shading style for a picture or two sometime, just to try it

I normally use regular old Georgia Pacific cardstock. It's not the most fabulous paper ever, but I think the marker ink blends and looks fine on it. And the size fits perfectly into binders! (which is how I store my drawings lol) But when I know I'm going to be doing a heavily mixed media drawing, I use Bristol. Other than that, I use Strathmore toned tan paper sometimes, and a watercolor paper that I can't remember the name of (but it's sucky quality lol.)

There definitely a lot of blending methods, and honestly the best thing you can do is experiment and find one that works for you. I always try to blend light-to-dark, because when you blend dark-to-light it can look patchy. I color by covering an area with ink until it looks even and smooth, and then coming in with the darker colors. Then I blend by going over the edges with the lighter color, usually pretty heavily. I always use a ton of ink on my drawings because I like the way it looks, but that's more expensive in the long run :/

If you're looking for a cheap place to buy copics, I always get mine from Otakufuel on eBay. They have a ton of great deals and ship in really fast, so I would definitely recommend them.…

It's no problem! If you wanna know anything else, just note me or comment on my page or something X3 I love talking about markers lol
